Apple introduces Purple iPhone 12 and 12 Mini starting at $729

Tuesday’s Apple Spring Event was a massive hit with several devices launched alongside. Tim Cook himself unveiled us with a Purple color variant for both iPhone 12 and 12 mini. Originally, iPhone 12/12 Mini was available in blue, green, white, black, and red (as a part of Product Red). Cut to now, you can get your hands on a purple color variant that looks appealing.

The almighty iPhone 12 in Purple

The short teaser video posted by Apple shows how the iPhone 12 is getting the purple color with “The Candy Man” from the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory released in 1971 sets the mood. According to Apple, the new purple color variant is meant to recall the onset of the spring season.

According to the timeline, the iPhone 12 clad in purple will go on pre-sale on April 23 and will be available for shipping on April 30. You can get your hands on one starting at $829 or subscribe to purple iPhone 12 via a carrier to get it at $799. Moving ahead, the purple iPhone 12 Mini has the same schedule for pre-orders and shipping and the price tag starts at $729 standalone and $699 when purchased via a carrier.

It’s just the aluminum frame, the glass back and the overall appearance of the iPhone changed while the powertrain under the hood remains the same. Both the models have a flat-sided design with an OLED screen, 5G network support, and supports HDR. Both the devices have A14 Bionic processors and come pre-installed with iOS 14. There’s not a single change in-camera as well as the IP68 rating and more.

Apple has also released a new Leather Sleeve in Deep Violet color as well as a MagSafe Leather case for those who want it for their purple iPhone 12 or 12 Mini. There is also a tonne of silicone cases available from April 20 (Tuesday) itself.

Launching a new color variant after 6 months of the iPhone 12/12 Mini launch gives Apple some time till it works on the upcoming iPhone 13 slated to arrive in fall this year.
