With a striking design and a more exotic always-on display the Apple Watch is considered as one of the best smartwatches available on market right now. The Apple ecosystem compliments the features offered by the device. And now, the much-awaited ECG feature has received approval from the Chinese regulatory authority, meaning it will soon be available in China.
China’s National Medical Products Administration has posted a document that approves the ECG feature for the Apple Smartwatch. If we take a closer look at the filing, it does not offer any useful details about the feature and when it will be launched. However, some posts on the Chinese social media website Weibo suggest that the feature has already made its way on the watchOS 8 beta 2.
In case you happen to use an Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, or a Series 6 device, you can take an ECG by launching the ECG app on your watch and placing your finger on the Digital Crown. The device then makes use of several built-in sensors and reads the electric impulse from your heart. It can also determine if the user’s heart is out of rhythm, indicating atrial fibrillation.
Users from Australia and Vietnam can already use the feature. It was introduced earlier this year and is available for those running watchOS 7.4 or above.
