JioFiber’s entry plan starts at Rs699 and compares with competition which is anywhere around Rs500-800. Also one-time cost of Rs2,500 (1,500 refundable security deposit and 1,000 cost of device).
JioFiber’s entry pack will be Rs825 with GST and one will get 150GB per month here or per GB cost is Rs5.5/GB whereas in Wireless one pays Rs399 for 84days with 1.5GB daily or per GB cost is Rs3.2/GB.
Nowhere in the world is fixed broadband data costlier than wireless broadband! We expect, over a period of time, wireless prices to go up and fixed broadband prices to go down (price might be same though GBs can be increased).
Apply Process And Plans :
Current pricing will not mean massive scale-up in JioFiber subscribers and also churn from other players (Airtel, Voda You, Hathway, ACT, etc) might not be high.
Also, note that cable TV is not provided along with these plans, only OTT apps are provided through which one can watch catch-up and some live content (depending on the apps provided).
We believe this event is an overall good event for the existing Fixed Broadband industry as existing players will survive and not see the fate of wireless service providers. Also positive for DTH/cable players as TV has not been bundled.
Positive for PVR too as “First Day First show” is only for monthly plans of Rs2499/3999/8499, the off-take of which will be limited.
