After a tonne of rumors that were floated around the upcoming ZenFone 8 series for weeks now, the Taiwanese tech giant finally released the ZenFone 8 series consisting of ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip. The event that was held on May 12 released the device with the price tag starting as lower as €599. Here’s more about the launch.
Asus ZenFone 8 Launch
Certainly, the highlight of the launch event was the Asus ZenFone 8 which is a 5.9-inch device powered by the latest and flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. The ZenFone 8’s size puts it head-on with the Apple iPhone 12 mini which has a compact form factor and yet has the flagship chipset.
Talking about the premium and flagship Asus ZenFone 8, the device has a 5.9-inch 1080p OLED panel with a uber-fast 120Hz refresh rate which is twice the standard refresh rate. The device is paired with a Snapdragon 888 SoC along with 25GB of storage and 1GB of RAM.
Proceeding further, the device brings on-board a large 4,000 mAh battery in a form factor that squeezes between that of Pixel 4a and Pixel 5. The device has a dual rear camera setup comprising of a primary 64MP shooter with OIS and a 12MP ultrawide snapper. The front assembly houses a single 12MP selfie sensor housed in a punch-hole cut-out while the front camera has a 12MP sensor. The phone is compact to make handling it a nostalgic feeling.
On the other hand, Asus has upgraded the ZenFone 8 with the latest configurations to make it powerful. It packs in a 4,000 mAh battery under the hood and comes with a 30W wired charging, Android 11 out-of-the-box. Dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It carries a price tag of €599 in Europe where it will arrive before the unit starts selling in Europe in July.
Asus ZenFone 8 Flip Launch
It isn’t just the ZenFone 8 but Asus also launched the Asus ZenFone 8 Flip. It is essentially the same as ZenFone 7 Pro but with a Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood. The device comes with a .7-inch 1080p OLED 90Hz panel. It has up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It is equipped with a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 64MP primary cam, a 12MP ultrawide cam, and an 8MP telephoto cam. The price of this model in Europe starts from €799.
