Asus is gearing up for its next launch i.e. the ZenFone 8 series which comprises three models. One of the models is the ZenFone 8 Mini which is inspired by Apple’s 12 Mini. It has been weeks since the reports stating that ZenFone 8 Mini is in the making and the latest GeekBench listing, it further cements the reports.
According to a GeekBench listing, the Asus ZenFone 8 Mini is likely to have a model number ASUS_I006D and has Android 11 out-of-the-box. The listing does mention the scores i.e. 1123-points on single-core and 3681 points on multi-core tests.
Note that the listing mentions that this model carries a “Lahaina” motherboard which is a codename used for the latest Snapdragon 888 clocked at a base 1.80GHz frequency. If that’s true, the ZenFone 8 Mini will be a top-of-the-line mini version of the standard ZenFone 8 model. The chipset is joined by an Adreno 660 GPU that handles the graphics processing onboard the device. Smartphones running on Snapdragon 888 SoC have scored almost identical scores which means that the ZenFone 8 Mini might arrive with SD888 indeed.
The GeekBench listing also mentions that the phone has 16GB of RAM which is a big deal given the fact that we are expecting the device to arrive with at least 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
Moving forward, there are tonnes of reports stating various specifications including a 5.92-inch OLED panel which is a sweet spot of size. The display is likely to arrive with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
Reports are suggesting that the device is likely to pack in a dual-camera setup at the back with a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor along with a Sony IMX663 sensor of unknown specifications. We aren’t aware of the specifications of the front camera setup.
The smartphone is likely to get a 30W fast charging tech support as per the TUV SUD certification that arrived recently. With all these certifications coming our way, the launch is certainly imminent. Perhaps, exactly when it will arrive is a question at the moment.
