There are just a few days left for the Suicide Squad to release and the DC fans can’t wait for what’s next. With Dwayne Johnson confirming that he is done filming for Black Adam, the excitement is just not dying out.

Black Adam is sure to be a blockbuster under the lead of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In a recent social media post, Johnson confirmed that he has wrapped up the production of the film officially.

This comes after a long wait. At the end of 2019, “Black Adam” was supposed to be released just in time for the 2021 holidays. However, due to the pandemic, it was pushed back on its schedule. But now that Dwayne Johnson has confirmed the news, we are all waiting eagerly to know when will it grace our theatres.

Black Adam played by Dwayne Johnson

Johnson mentioned in his post that it was a “true honor to go shoulder to shoulder with over 1,000 brilliant and hungry crew of filmmakers and storytellers” to create the film.

In the video attached to the post, we can see him giving a heartfelt and inspiring speech, showing his dedication to the role, and also giving out cash prizes to some of the members of the crew.

Joining Dwayne Johnson in this much-awaited endeavor are, Aldis Hodge (Underground) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I Love Before) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (Euphoria) as Cyclone, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Uli Latukefu (Young Rock), Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin) Mohammed Amer (Ramy), James Cusati-Moyer (Prodigal Son), Bodhi Sabongui (Legends of Tomorrow).

When Executive producer Dany Gracia was asked about the future of the film on the Red Carpet premiere of “Jungle Cruise”, (30th July) this is what she had to say :

“We haven’t wrapped yet, so we still have a few more weeks,” Garcia explained. “[Dwayne] wrapped, so that’s kind of a wrap. Black Adam wrapped. But we’ve got a lot of really good things going on that, actually, will continue in LA.”

Black Adam from comics

There is still a lot more to go as far as finishing the movie is concerned. Behind the scenes work is still left, which could include reshoots in the future, editing, and much more.

Black Adam is essentially a spin-off of Shazam. His birth is destined years before our current Shazam. He became a magically empowered hero of humanity but then allowed his power to corrupt his ideals and desires. He then was exiled by Shazam but returned now has returned to modern-day civilization. One of the world’s first wielders of magic is now back and will be seen as an anti-hero in the coming films.

While both Black Adam and Shazam source from the same power, there has been no confirmation of a crossover. Zachary Levi is currently busy filming Shazam: Fury of The Gods while Dwayne Johnson is focusing on the origin story of Black Adam. But who knows what DC will have in store for its fans in the future, until then we can only wait for both of these movies.

With a lot of good things coming out, we are more than satisfied for now!
