Disney World Announces MagicBand Support for iPhone and Apple Watch

Disney has announced that MagicBand support is now coming to iPhone and Apple Watch. This means that you won’t need to wear Walt Disney’s MagicBand to get around the theme parks, unlock your hotel room, or buy food and merchandise. The company said that guests now won’t need to wear Disney’s wristband as its support is now coming to Apple devices viz. iPhone and Apple watches via a service called “Disney MagicMobile,” which uses the Wallet app.

For now, MagicMobile is being released exclusively for Apple devices only but it may come to Android devices in near future, as well. Speaking of MagicBand, it is a colorful wristband that Walt Disney World visitors can wear to get into the theme parks, unlock doors of their hotel rooms, and buy food and merchandise. But now this service is coming to your Apple-branded existing devices through an app.

Access MagicBand Features on Your iPhone or Apple Watch

With the new service called MagicMobile, you will be able to create a pass through the My Disney Experience app. Next, all you need to do is add the pass to your digital wallet. Now you can just use your iPhone or Apple Watch at access points the same way you’d use a MagicBand. Another good thing is that guests can also use a MagicBand alongside a MagicMobile mobile pass, so they don’t need to choose one over the other.

Speaking of availability, the feature will be released for iPhone and Apple Watch owners “later this year” in a phased manner. With the availability of the new service, users can definitely save some hassle by not picking up a MagicBand. Another thing is that you don’t need to wear a wristband that some other person may have recently touched, especially during these COVID-19 times. Like said before, MagicBands will still be available, and you’ll still have to use My Disney Experience for digital room keys on your phone.
