F9 might break box office record with an estimated $68 million debut

The Fast and Furious franchise has been going for more than two decades now. The ninth and latest installment in the series, F9, is on its way to break a new pandemic era box office record.

On its debut day, the movie has collected more than $68 million. Starring Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel, F9 managed to grab more than $30 million on Friday alone. It is currently running in 4,179 theatres. The movie will smash the current pandemic-era box office record held by “A Quiet Place 2” if this trend continues. The latter debuted at $48.3 million.

Several predictions point to the same, as F9 is available in more theatres compared ever since the virus pandemic took over our lives in 2020. Experts say the movie will also surpass “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (released in December 2019) as the highest-grossing box office debut.

Apart from the aforementioned actors, other movie cast members include Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Chris Bridges, and Sung Kang. Guest appearance includes Helen Mirren, playing the role of Deckard and Owen Shaw’s mother. Justin Lin directs it.

Taking a quick look at other movies, we have “A Quiet Place Part II” grabbing the No. 2 spot, whereas the third spot is held by “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.” Having said that, Paramount’s “A Quiet Place Part II” is currently the most revenue-generating movie in the United States.

We expect F9 to break the record soon. Do you have plans to watch F9 this weekend? Let us know in the comments below!
