Fall Guys Studio Mediatonic Accidentally Releases Game Source Code

It looks like somebody or a group of somebodies were having a bad day at the Mediatonic, the developers behind Fall Guys. The game studio accidentally released an update that included the entire source code of the game.

While this is quite embarrassing, it is really dangerous for games to have their entire source code leaked, until its intentional. The update was spotted on SteamDB, a website that tracks particular changes to the Steam Database. After spotted some updates and changes, people noticed a folder named “BackUpThisFolder_ButDontShipItWithYourGame.”

Well, it turns out that the folder the entire source code of the game. If the source code of an online game is leaked, it makes it a piece of cake for hackers to understand and exploit various aspects of the game. They can easily modify certain mechanisms, bypass the payment wall and even mess with other players. Heck, they can even buy everything in the game without paying a single dime.

The source code contains everything that makes Fall Guys work, including the knowledge of how it works. Having said that, users quickly reached out to the developers on Twitter and it was promptly deleted. Several news publications also covered the news immediately.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is scheduled to come to the Nintendo Switch after the end of summer, Some rumors also suggest that Epic Games might it available for free on their store in the near future.
