If you happen to live in the United States, you might have to wait for a few more days for the upcoming James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. It will be coming on August 5 this year.
However, UK fans will be able to enjoy the movie on July 30 Friday. Having said that, people in London will be able to experience the film’s villain, Starro, before the movie comes out.
The journalist Daniel Curtis recently shared a Twitter photo showing a massive starfish-like creature and tagged Gunn in the photo. Starro is visible in both previews and some footage of the movie.
Gunn also shared a short video of the statue. saying,
I’ve loved/been terrified by Starro since I was a little kid & this is blowing my mind.
He added,
Well I just, I wanted a major DC villain that is a major DC villain that people wouldn’t expect to be in a movie,” Gunn said during a press event attended by ComicBook. “And I’ve always loved Starro. I mean, as a kid, I found Starro completely terrifying. The idea of this giant starfish with one big guy that shoots these things out of him that take over people’s brains, like those old pictures with Superman with him on his face. Always scared the shit out of me. So, it was about taking something that was completely, mind you, ridiculous, that looks, putting him in a setting that is the gritty streets of Cologne, Panama, and then allowing him to do his scary business, but he’s also completely outrageous. And so, that mix of things appealed to my aesthetic.
The Suicide Squad will be available in theatres in the United Kingdom on July 30 and the United States on August 5, so make sure to grab your tickets.
