Google Pixel foldable phone tipped to arrive later this year

One of the popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has recently tweeted that the much-awaited Google Pixel foldable phone might come later this year. It’s also expected that the folding Pixel phone will be codenamed as ‘Passport’ due to its form factor and the ability to get folded or unfolded like a passport book. More or less the overall design will be the same as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold but there are no specific details available on it.

However, as per some of the leaks or concept designs, we can expect a side-mounted power button with a fingerprint scanner integrated, a volume rocker below the power button, a punch-hole front camera on the upper right corner, a USB Type-C charging port on the right part of the foldable. Initially, it was rumored to be called ‘Google Pixel Fold‘ but that’s also a mystery right now until Google releases anything officially or until some solid sources come up with reliable information.

We could even get a preview or teaser of the so-called Google Pixel foldable phone at the Pixel 6 launch event which will gonna take place in October 2021. So, fingers crossed… According to Evleaks, Google is apparently working on this foldable phone project for over two years. Some of the reports are also suggesting that it might come with an LTPO OLED panel from Samsung Display Company. Obviously, it’s a matter of foldable screen and Pixel users will definitely gonna use their devices for around three-four years straightforward.

Therefore, the longevity of the foldable device hinge as well as the foldable display panel should be top-notch for such a flagship and popular smartphone brand in this competitive market. Needless to say that Samsung is the ultimate king when it comes to manufacturing stunning display panels including AMOLED, OLED, and especially foldable display panels. Although there are some other brands available, Samsung has made the competition too small at least for the mobile display segment.

It’s also rumored that Google will offer Ultra-Thin-Glass (UTG) for the Pixel Fold device for the first time. Additionally, some reports are saying that there could be an under-display camera sensor. Meanwhile, a report from The Elec has indicated that the Pixel Fold will have a 7.6-inches display screen size when unfolded. So, that’ll be a treat to watch in the near future.
