Later last month, Honor released a new smartphone with the moniker Honor Play 5T. Soon enough, it was confirmed that a full-blown Honor Play 5 series is in the making and it could arrive soon as well. Later, it was tipped that the 5G variant of the phone will pack in a 66W Super Charge setup. Cut to now, a report has confirmed the latter part.
66W Super Charge on Honor Play 5 5G confirmed
According to a report from SeekDevice, the Honor Play 5 5G will arrive with 66W Super Charging support. Honor made a post on Chinese social networking site Weibo to confirm it along with the confirmation that the series will arrive on May 18. Also, it is reported that there’s more than one variant in the Play 5 series.
A recent poster that went live gave a sneak look into the upcoming Honor Play 5. If reports are to be believed, there’s actually a 5G variant of the standard Honor Play 5 as well. It will be called Honor Play 5 5G while the other version will be called Honor Play 5 LTE. Both the devices should share some similarities although the camera setup and some specs are expected to be different between both LTE and 5G variants.
As per a rough specs sheet coming from a set of rumors are concerned, the Honor Play 5 will get a Dimensity 800U SoC under the hood and will have a sweet 6.53-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a waterdrop-shaped notch on top of it.
There’s a quad-camera setup in the back as you can see in the first leaked renders above. It is likely housing a 64MP primary, a 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro sensor. The phone is reportedly equipped with a 3,800 mAh battery under the hood along. It will have an in-display fingerprint scanner for unlocking purposes.
Details w.r.t the upcoming Honor Play 5 series are scarce and thus, we couldn’t draw a perfect list of specs just yet. The device is going to be official on may 18 for sure and that is when we will get to see more about the device and the variants it will bring along.
