iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max to Feature 120Hz Samsung-made AMOLED Displays

Apple’s upcoming iPhones for this year are in rumors for a while now, and last month we saw leaked colorized renders of the iPhone 13 models showing rearranged rear cameras. Apart from this, there have been rumors about the iPhone 13 models getting AMOLED screens with up to 12Hz refresh rate. Now, a new report from Korea has confirmed that some iPhone 13 models will indeed have 120Hz displays. The report also shared some intriguing new information on this matter.

According to the report, only two top-end iPhone 13 models — the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max — will sport the new LTPO AMOLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates. Interestingly, these high refresh rate LTPO AMOLED screens will be made exclusively by Samsung Display.

Samsung-Mechanics Will Also Supply RFPCBs

Another intriguing new info that the report shares are that it’s not just the displays, but Samsung Electro-Mechanics will supply the rigid-flexible printed circuit boards (RFPCBs). These connect the OLED panel to the mainboard. RF PCB allows for more convenient product designs, thanks to its rigid nature and capable of being folded at the same time. It also allows faster transmission of electrical signals. However, RFPCBs are more expensive than the traditional flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs).

For Samsung Display supplying 120Hz AMOLED screens to be used on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the company is expected to supply 110 million panels this year.
