Jada Pinkett Smith shares an unreleased poem by Tupac

Jada Pinkett Smith shared a poem written by 2Pac on what would have been his 50th birthday. She shared the poem on Instagram on Tuesday, a night before his birthday.

The poem is titled “Lost Soulz” and has never been published before. In the video, Jada said that she believes that this poem was his inspiration for the song “Lost Souls.”

The caption of the video was,

As we prepare to celebrate his legacy … let’s remember him for that which we loved most … his way with words. Here are a few you may have never heard before.Happy ‘you goin’n to be 50 at midnight’ Birthday Pac!

Tupac and Jada first met when they were studying at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Maryland. They quickly became friends and went by the stage name 2Pac. At the time of his death, they had fallen out, and their relationship was estranged. Tupac died on September 13, 1996.

Jada said,

He felt as though I had changed. I’d gone Hollywood. I’d gone soft. And looking back now, I totally understand where Pac was at the time. It was a mentality he started to come out of before he was murdered.

Jada said Tupac’s death taught her that life is too short. She added, “Do not let disagreements stand in between you and people that you love.”
