As said before, DeX is a desktop-mode software from Samsung that allows you to cast your Galaxy S series phones’ screen to a compatible PC or an external monitor/TV. It does not just run on PC, but you can also run it on Tab series devices apart from connecting it to an external monitor or a TV. For PCs, it works on both Windows and macOS powered devices via wired connection or wirelessly.

If you want to run this experience on Windows/macOS then you need to download Samsung’s DeX for PC software. With the latest update, you can now run DeX for PC even wirelessly, which otherwise required a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter to connect to the PC. That’s to the latest One UI 3.1 update that brings support for wireless connections to DeX on PC. All you need to have is that your devices should be connected to the same wireless network.

To wirelessly start DeX on a PC, just pull down the notification shade and tap on the designated icon for DeX. Now it’ll start searching for a PC that has DeX for PC software installed and connected to the same wireless network. Once it finds the compatible device, simply tap connect. Now your screen will cast on the PC wirelessly — a great way to extend the capabilities of your Galaxy smartphone.
