The OnePlus 9 series was earlier tipped to launch sometime in March along with the OnePlus Watch. Now, the company has officially revealed that the upcoming smartphone series will be launching globally on March 23. This launch includes India and several other markets that will see the arrival of the upcoming smartphones on March 23rd. Further, the company has also confirmed that it has partnered with the legendary camera manufacturer Hasselblad. So, the Pro model of the OnePlus 9 series will use Hasselblad-branded cameras.
In addition to all this, OnePlus has also revealed the official design of the phone, which stays true to past renders. The phone is confirmed to have a rectangular camera module that the official image reveals will lie on a silver color back panel. Moreover, the phone will feature the Hasselblad branding, as well. OnePlus’ partnership with Hasselblad is said to co-develop the “next generation of smartphone camera systems for future OnePlus flagship devices.”
OnePlus 9 Series Will Feature Hasselblad Cameras
Pete Lau, Founder and CEO of OnePlus, in a statement, said, “OnePlus has always prioritized a premium user experience over everything else. Beginning in 2021, we are making a concerted effort to significantly improve the smartphone camera experience for our users, with the expertise of a truly legendary partner in Hasselblad.” He further added, “With OnePlus’ top-of-the-line hardware and computational photography and Hasselblad’s rich aesthetic knowledge in traditional photography, I am confident that the OnePlus 9 Series will be a major leap forward in our ability to deliver a premium, flagship camera.”
The smartphone brand has officially entered into a three-year partnership with camera maker Hasselblad to co-develop next-gen smartphone camera systems for future flagship devices of OnePlus. As per the reports, the phone maker will invest more than 7SD 150 million over the next three years to develop its mobile imaging capabilities. With the new partnership, the upcoming OnePlus 9 series will come with a new Hasselblad Pro Mode. This will reportedly offer “accurate and natural colour for a solid foundation for post-editing.”
OnePlus 9 Series Specs, Features
The upcoming OnePlus 9 series is tipped to have the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro models. In addition to these, there is also a OnePlus 9R smartphone belonging to this lineup. The smartphones will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC that will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The devices are also tipped to have the support for 65W fast charging. However, only the OnePlus 9 Pro is said to come with the Hasselblad-branded camera.
Also, the OnePlus 9R will reportedly feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 SoC and is tipped to come with a FHD+ 90Hz display and a 48-megapixel primary camera. Like said before, the upcoming smartphone series will launch on March 23, which is just a little over two weeks later.
