After announcing the OnePlus 9 series launch for March 23, the company has revealed the camera specs of its upcoming smartphone lineup. The smartphone brand revealed through a Twitter post that the OnePlus 9 series will feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 ultra-wide camera sensor. If you remember, the company had recently teased the upcoming series’ design earlier this week. OnePlus already has plans to reveal key features about the upcoming phones in the coming days.
The OnePlus 9 series highlight is that it’ll use Hasselblad-branded cameras, at least in the Pro model. The smartphone maker has partnered with Hasselblad to co-develop cameras for its future flagship devices. Speaking about the 50MP Sony’s ultra-wide camera for the OnePlus 9 series, it is confirmed to appear on the OnePlus 9 Pro. But it’s not clear whether it’ll feature on the vanilla OnePlus 9 model as well or not.
OnePlus 9 Pro Will Feature 50MP Sony IMX766 Sensor
Like said before, OnePlus has confirmed that the Pro model of its upcoming smartphone series will use a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide camera. Since it is an ultra-wide-angle sensor, it will look to capture crisp and clear ultra-wide photos. The official information is interestingly in line with the previous leaks about the OnePlus 9 Pro camera specifications. Further, past reports have also indicated that the phone will come with a 48MP primary camera. The quad rear camera setup will include two other sensors, including an 8MP telephoto lens and another 2MP sensor.
So, speaking of the camera specs of the OnePlus 9 Pro in general, the phone will have:
A 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide camera, a 48MP Sony IMX789 main sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 2MP sensor.
Considering OnePlus’ partnership with Hasselblad, the upcoming OnePlus 9 series will have a new Hasselblad Pro Mode that is said to offer “accurate and natural color for a solid foundation for post-editing.”
OnePlus 9 Series Specs, Features (Expected)
The upcoming OnePlus 9 series is expected to feature Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC that’ll be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The smartphones are also said to sport a QHD+ display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. Further, both the phones will have support for 65W fast charging. While the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a quad rear camera setup and use Hasselblad-branded cameras, the vanilla OnePlus 9 might have a triple rear camera system. But this is just speculation and not the official information.
We expect to hear more about the upcoming OnePlus phones ahead of their March 23 launch.
