Phone camera and picture quality have been one of the biggest determining factors of a smartphone’s success. And picture quality has always been the biggest strength of Google’s Pixel lineup. However, Apple in its latest iPhone models has taken away the crown from Google for being the best camera smartphone. But that may not be the case anymore, as Google’s Pixel 6 Pro seems to have the best camera out there. With a major update to the camera setup in the Pixel 6 series, the Pixel 6 Pro may beat iPhone 13 Pro and regain its throne as the best camera smartphone.
The Mountain View-based tech giant launched its latest high-end smartphones — Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro — last week on October 19. These devices come equipped with the company’s in-house Tensor SoC, 120Hz OLED displays, Android 12, bigger batteries, Titan M2 security chipset, and phenomenal camera upgrades. Here’s how the Pixel 6 Pro camera is at par with or probably ahead of the iPhone 13 Pro.
Pixel 6 Pro Camera vs. iPhone 13 Pro Camera
Today, for the most part, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has been considered the best camera on a smartphone — thanks to its excellent software processing and video quality. Even Google’s recent Pixel devices like the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a couldn’t compete with recent iPhone models. But the latest Pixel 6 Pro has stepped up things in the camera section, and it beats iPhone 13 on many levels. Recently, a Reddit post revealed that the Pixel 6 Pro’s camera works far better than the iPhone 13 camera in low-light conditions. Pixel 6 does beat iPhone 13 in night photography.
Quinn Nelson posted a few stills taken on both the Pixel 6 and iPhone 13, and it looks like the Pixel 6 outperforms the Apple handset on capturing much detail. The Pixel handset continues to excel in subject detection AI. The 48MP telephoto lens in Pixel 6 Pro has up to 4X zoom that captures the subject detail quite vividly. The device has a 50MP main camera and a 12MP secondary ultra-wide sensor.
