Pokemon Go has announced its new Friendship Day event that is scheduled for Saturday, April 24. The event will run from 11 AM to 2 PM local time and will feature the Grass-type Pokémon and a new Collection Challenge with various in-game bonuses. Developer Niantic announced the new Friendship Day event through an official post on the Pokemon Go blog.
The features for Friendship Day include the appearance of various Grass-type Pokemon more often in the wild. These Grass Pokemon include Chikorita, Cottonee, Foongus, Tangela, and others, which will appear more frequently than normal throughout Friendship Day. The new Collection Challenge during the event, when completed before the day ends, will make you earn 100,000 XP. You can also take part in Global Challenge during the Friendship Day event. For every hourly challenge that you complete, you will earn 20,000 XP.
Pokemon Go Friendship Day Brings Various Bonuses
Apart from the new features to earn more XPs, Niantic has added various bonuses for Friendship Day. First, when you complete a trade with a friend, you will have an increased chance of receiving a Lucky Pokemon. The developer is also increasing the trading distance to 40km for the upcoming event on 24. Not just this, it is also adding a 3X bonus, which means you’ll earn three times the amount of Stardust each time you capture a Pokemon. Incense and Lures that you use during the event will also remain active for three hours.
Since the coronavirus pandemic is going on, Niantic also encourages Pokemon Go fans to be aware of their surroundings and follow guidelines from the local health authorities. If you’re also the one who’s going to play during the Pokemon Go Friendship Day, you can also share your adventures on social media using the #PokemonGOfriend hashtag.
