The Live-Action Powerpuff Girls series is getting a brand new Pilot

According to a report by Deadline, the real-life version of The Powerpuff Girls TV Series will be getting a new pilot.

The information comes when CW has reportedly worked on a number of new series for 2021. The lineup included Naomi and All American: Homecoming, but Powerpuff girls did not make the cut.

Having said that, the original cast and the crew will still be retained. Chole Bennet from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Dove Cameron from Descendants, and Yana Perrault will be the three Powerpuff Girls. Donald Faison and others will still be a part of the team.

The animated series was originally aired on Cartoon Network between 1998 and 2005. It follows the lives of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, who later on become ‘disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting.’ Powerpuff Girls also featured a reboot in the year 2016.

The new live-action series is being written and produced by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier. Surprisingly, CW didn’t want to materialize on Powerpuff Girls, considering the development began last year.

Channing Dungey, the President of Warner Bros TV Group, said

We’ve got a trio of terrific actresses at the center of that. I’m not going to say that it hasn’t been a challenge. Bringing a children’s cartoon into live-action adulthood has been a really fine line to walk, but I think we’ve done a pretty great job walking it.

The release date for Powerpuff Girls is still unknown at the moment. But it looks like the series wont debut until 2022.
