A Redmi K40 model has reportedly been spotted on Geekbench ahead of the K40 series launch. Xiaomi’s new smartphone series will include two models — a vanilla K40 and the Redmi K40 Pro. The K40 series is set to launch in China on February 25. As per the past reports, the upcoming series will come with a triple rear camera setup and a tiny hole-punch cutout at the front. Also, a poster that recently appeared has confirmed that one of the models (most likely the Redmi K40 Pro) will use the Snapdragon 888 SoC.
As per tipster Abhishek Yadav, an upcoming Redmi K40 device has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking site with model number M2012K11AC ahead of the launch. The phone reportedly will be powered by the Snapdragon 870 system-on-a-chip (SoC) and run Android 11 out-of-the-box. The listing also reveals key specifications like RAM and software details apart from the chipset.
Redmi K40 Geekbench Listing Details
While looking at the specifications revealed on the benchmarking site, it looks like the device in talks is the vanilla Redmi K40 model. It has managed to score 1016 points and 3332 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. The listing reveals that the motherboard has the codename “alioth,” which allegedly is associated with the Snapdragon 870 SoC. This suggests that the vanilla model in the upcoming K40 series will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, and the Pro model will use Snapdragon 888 SoC. Further, the listing suggests that the phone will come with 8GB of RAM and run Android 11.
Redmi K40 Series Specifications (Expected)
Per the previous reports and leaks, the Redmi K40 will feature a 6.6-inch FHD+ display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. Like said before, it’ll have a tiny hole-punch cutout at the center of the screen for the selfie camera. The base model of the Redmi K40 will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. However, the phone may have other storage options too. Further, a GSMArena report claims that the upcoming handset will pack a 4,520mAh battery with fast charging support.
As aforementioned, the Redmi K40 Pro could launch during the launch of the Snapdragon 888 SoC. The phone may have similar specifications, except the chipset as it’ll use Qualcomm’s latest and powerful chipset. Apart from this, both of these phones will run Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top. Further, there’s not much information on the camera specifications of the Redmi K40, but it’s confirmed that the handset will have a triple rear camera setup with a rectangular module.
