New leak says Xiaomi Redmi K50 will support 100W fast charging, IP68 rating, and more

There are a couple of smartphone OEMs that massively working on their upcoming projects and Xiaomi is one of them. The next-gen Redmi K50 is on the leaks right now that’ll be a successor to the Redmi K40 lineup with minor improvements whatsoever. Recently, a report or leak appears on the Digital Chat Station that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset-powered smartphone will be released soon which may be the Redmi K50 model expectedly.

Well, this is the same processor that even the Redmi K40 model with the same 120Hz screen refresh rate. But this time the K50 model could come with an OLED 6.7-inches Full-HD+ display. While the K50 series will also support 100W fast charging out-of-the-box. It’s worth noting that only flagship Mi phones and a couple of Black Shark models do support 120W fast charging. Now, the K50 will also include in that list soon.

Redmi K50: A True Successor of Redmi K40?

Additionally, the Redmi K50 will be dust and water-resistant with an IP68 rating for sure. Whereas the symmetrical stereo speakers will be good enough to deliver a better sound listening experience. Previously, the K40 model has an IP53 rating with dust & splash resistance apart from 67W fast charging. There is no confirmation about the display protection, camera segment, storage variants, battery capacity, etc.

Meanwhile, there are some rumors going around that the Snapdragon 898 and Snapdragon 888 chipset will also be included in the K50 variants apart from the Snapdragon 870 processor. So, we’ll have to wait for clearer info in the upcoming months.

We should also mention that there is no confirmation whether all three K50 variants will support 100W fast charging or only the top variant. Similarly, the so-called 108MP main camera sensor on the rear side may come with the higher K50 variant only. While the rest of the variants can come with only a 48MP primary camera sensor.

As of now, the chances are high that Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi K50 model only in China. The same variant may appear with some rebranded name in other markets most probably. Time will tell everything. Cheers!
