There’s good news for Samsung Galaxy M40 users as the device is now being upgraded to Android 11 in India. The Samsung Galaxy M40 made its debut with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box back in 2019. In March last year, it received its first major upgrade i.e. Android 10 and now, it is getting its second and probably the last upgrade i.e. Android 11-bundled OneUI 3.1.
Users began posting screenshots of the update on various communities including Samsung’s community forum. SamMobile further tracked the update being released as well as giving out more information about the same. The incoming update carries a firmware version number M405FDDU2CUC6 and has a download size of 2.2GB that users are required to download. As usual, the update is being relayed via the OTA method in a batch-by-batch manner which means not everyone will get the update in just one go.
The update will be released in batches so it may take a few days to a few weeks for it to reach all Galaxy M40 units in India. The update also has March 2021 security patch with it. As usual, OneUI 3.1 brings a lot of features and functionalities on the Galaxy M40 such as robust and efficient one-hand usage, one-time permissions, chat bubbles, a completely designed UI, a newer Samsung Keyboard, and a lot more.
How To Install Android 11-powered OneUI 3.1 on Samsung Galaxy M40?
Users are required to check if they have received the update or not by diving into the Settings >> Software Update. If you have received the update, the system will detect it and ask users to download it. Once it is done, install it and reboot the device, and bingo, the update is installed.
Note that you still need at least 50 percent battery to ensure the battery doesn’t dry out during the installation process or that would introduce a myriad of issues including boot loop. If there’s any problem with the update, report it to Samsung and wait for it to patch it up. You can still roll back to OneUI 3.0 or before by downloading the firmware and installing it manually.
Samsung is also working on OneUI 3.5 update that will be a major upgrade as well and likely to make its debut in June or July 2021.
