Samsung has started pushing the latest One UI 4.0 Beta update based on Android 12 Beta to its flagship Galaxy S21 series models such as Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra in the USA region. Talking about the new Android12 Beta-based update, all three Samsung Galaxy S21 series models have received eSIM support in the US with One UI 4 Beta.
It’s worth noting that the update is only available to the US Unlocked carrier users. We’re expecting that other locked carrier users will also soon receive the One UI 4 Beta update on the Galaxy S21 lineup in the US. Recently, Apple has also released its flagship iPhone 13 series devices which will also support dual-SIM as well as eSIM support via the wireless carrier options.
The benefit of having an eSIM option on your smartphone is that you don’t need to have a physical SIM card inserted on your handset or don’t even need to have a SIM slot. It works virtually and wirelessly that’s why if your device supports an eSIM facility then simply contact the respective carrier provider and ask for an eSIM. They’ll require a unique eSIM number to activate the service on the carrier. Don’t worry! Your carrier support will guide you on the process.
Outside of the USA, the Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup devices do come with a physical dual SIM slot so you can only use the nano-SIM. While the US variant Galaxy S21 models support a single nano-SIM (physical slot) and an eSIM option that has been enabled with the update of Android 12 by the manufacturer to use dual-SIM mode.
Currently, the One UI 4 Beta program is rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup devices via OTA in the US region. Soon some other regions will start getting the same update such as South Korea, India, UK, China, Germany, Poland, etc. Samsung One UI 4 update based on Android 12 features customizable options for the home screen, new icons, wallpapers, themes, updated AR emojis, etc.
While the new notification indicators will let you know when an app uses cameras or microphones on the handset. The reports are coming out that the Galaxy S21 series will receive the official stable One UI 4 update based on Android 12 stable by the end of the beta program (most probably in early 2022).
Although Google hasn’t revealed any specific release date of the Pixel 6 devices and Android 12, we can expect that the company will unveil them on October 4, 2021, along with the Android 12 source code AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Therefore, we may have to wait for a while.
