Samsung has recently released the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as one of the latest flagship foldable smartphones under the Galaxy Fold Z lineup. It’s the successor version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and uses the same type of rear-facing camera setup. Both the foldable do have a 12MP wide-angle camera lens with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens that has 2x optical zoom with OIS. But as per a new report from South Korea, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is using the SK Hynix sensor in its telephoto lens.
Talking about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, it has a 12MP triple rear camera setup that includes a 12MP primary camera (f/1.8 aperture), a 12MP (f/2.2 aperture), a 12MP (f/2.4 aperture) lens. While it has a 10MP selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture) and a 4MP (f/1.8 aperture) lens under the internal display. The particular model number of the SK Hynix sensor is Hi-1337 which was launched last year and features a 13MP resolution with 1µm pixels, and 2x optical zoom.
The sensor is quite powerful that can be used as a wide-angle lens or a selfie camera as well. Although SK Hynix sensors aren’t the best in the segment with a 2% market share when it comes to the market competition, it seems that Samsung has believed in it. Whereas Samsung and Sony are taking the lead in the camera sensor segment with market shares of 22% and 40%.
