The Suicide Squad: Peter Capaldi opens up about his character Thinker

The Suicide Squad is just a few days away from being released, and we know you can’t wait for it just like us. If the first reviews of the movie are any indication then it’s going to be a blockbuster.

While we can’t bring the movie to you, we have brought a word about the new character, Thinker, from the horse’s mouth itself. Peter Capaldi, the 63-year-old Doctor Who star speaks about The Thinker and his process of emulating it to the best of his ability.

Peter Capaldi talked to ComicBook’s Brandon Davis, where he explained how he plunged himself into the heightened universe. The Thinker is a novice character in The Suicide Squad and we would think Peter Capaldi would look to comic books to get some inspirational and in-depth knowledge of his character, but it appears that we were wrong. Peter mentions how his companion for bringing the character to life has been the screenplay of Suicide Squad and James Gunn’s script only.

“My introduction was the script. I just read the script. James asked me to do it and then sent me the script, and I thought the script was great. And that’s really where I took it from. I dug into some of the comics, which is an archeological dig to have a look at his various in comics. It was quite difficult to pin down exactly who he was because he changes so much. And also, he seems to be quite old and then he disappears, and then he comes back again. And I thought it was quite confusing. I thought I’d be better just to cleave to the script. Stick with the script and try and conjure up that Thinker, as opposed to making a connection with the comics.

The first thing when you go on the internet and call him up, you get a little drawing of him in the orange jumpsuit, which kind of is iconic for him and did, I think, influence James and our Thinker. But yeah, no, I just tried to do what the script tells me to do. It’s quite tricky. I mean, James is brilliant, I think, but it’s a very heightened sort of world that you have to try and exist in and be funny and scary at the same time.”

It is very much possible that we will see the strange and complicated character of Thinker in a new light. Very little is currently known about the character from the trailer, only his recruitment in Taskforce X is confirmed. Whether he makes it to the end of the gory and insane brainchild of James Gunn’s, The Suicide Squad is another question.

Peter Capaldi’s Thinker would be seen with other antiheroes from the deadliest prison Belle Reve, which will include the novice natural leader Bloodsport (Idris Elba), blindly patriotic Peacemaker (John Cena), the lamest superhero Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), the charming Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), and King Shark (Sylvester Stallone).

Some oldies would be joining the movie as well, Viola DavisJoel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Margot Robbie, would be part of the cast.

It would be interesting to see the people behind the darkness fight for the good for once and give their best to survive when they come face to face with an alien creature on Corto Maltese island.

The Suicide Squad is set to be released in theaters and stream on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021. The Suicide Squad springs from the twisted taste of James Gunn, which must not be missed in its action.
