TikTok expands the “TikTok TV” app to the US and Canada

For years, TikTok has been one of the most popular short-format video platforms. However, it’s banned in multiple regions because of content restrictions, data privacy issues, and even the impact on younger generations. There’s good news, though: TikTok fans can start enjoying their favorite platform once again on a variety of devices. It’s true! In the U.S. and Canada, TikTok is now available on Google TV and Android TV devices.

In some countries, TikTok originally debuted on Android TV OS earlier this year. Prior to that, it debuted with the Google TV extension. It wasn’t initially available in North America. However, recently the company announced an expansion in a blog post, saying that the app can now be downloaded in the U.S. and Canada from the Google Play Store.

Besides Android TV and Google TV, the app is also now available on Amazon Fire TV OS, LG & Samsung smart TVs, as well as multiple other smart TV platforms. Unfortunately, Roku support is still not available. The TikTok TV app is built for home video viewing on TVs so the TikTok feeds ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ can be easily accessed by TV viewers.

It will also include the most popular & viewed TikTok videos across a wide range of categories, including gaming, comedy, food, and more. If you’d like to get started, be sure to log into TikTok TV with your existing account, or create one if you’ve never used it before. Finally, you’ll be able to watch TikTok content on your big screen. TikTok also offers a ‘Discover’ page that allows you to find more of your favorite content, creators, and categories.
