YouTube Music Update Brings Feature to Repeat Songs While Casting: But Feature Seems to be Broken

Last year Google announced to close down the Play Music service and started to promote YouTube Music in place of that. But, Google Play Music users didn’t like this change and criticized YouTube Music because it lacks even the basic features. Like the ability to repeat songs while Casting doesn’t exist on YouTube Music. However, now the tech giant has reportedly pushed an update that finally had added this feature to the music app on Android. Spotted earlier today, the feature — the ability to set a casted song to repeat — however, does not seem to work properly, claims a report.

According to a report from 9to5Google, the recent change appeared on the YouTube Music subreddit and users were able to see the clickable “repeat” button. To those who are unaware, the YouTube Music app for Android didn’t have clickable shuffle and repeat buttons while casting a track. But now, the new update makes the repeat button clickable. However, the shuffle button still remains grey, which means it’s not clickable while casting.

Repeat Songs While Casting on YouTube Music for Android

The new change to YouTube Music for Android brings the ability to repeat a track while casting, but as per a report from Android Police, the feature doesn’t work properly. The report claims that selecting a single track to repeat gets disregarded completely. Not just this, even trying to repeat a full playlist or album does not work, but rather shows an error and crashes the cast.

Further, this feature seems to be being rolled out in stages and some people may not have received it on their YouTube Music for Android app. Speaking of the shuffle button, it seems like Google is working on adding support for shuffling songs while casting too. However, the fact that the newly-added feature doesn’t yet work properly, and other basic features are still missing on YouTube Music, we hope the new music service meets the benchmark set by Google Play Music. We hope Google fixes the issue soon.
