Last year, Google rolled out a new iPhone-inspired Android Fast Pair UI to its first-party accessories, including the Pixel Buds. Now, this new UI has been made widely available for more Fast Pair-supported earbuds and more importantly, the Fitbit smartwatches, according to a report.
As per a report from 9to5Google, the new UI has now also become available to third-party earbuds and Fitbit devices. While the exact date for this change is unknown, the report claims that setting up or linking a new Fitbit device near an Android device pops up a dismissable UI rather than the earlier smaller Fast Pair notification. This clearly means that Google is continuously working to expand this UI to more of its devices.
New Fast Pair UI Expands to More Bluetooth Accessories
Interestingly, it’s not only the Fitbit smartwatches or wristbands that have received the new Android Fast Pair UI, but it has also expanded to more third-party earbuds. These include OnePlus Buds, OnePlus Buds Z, and also the Bose QX 35 II noise-canceling headphones. What this means is that the UI has also been rolling out to accessories made by third-party companies. Of course, the devices should support Google’s Fast Pair connection method to make use of this new pairing interface.
As aforementioned, Google’s Pixel Buds were the first Bluetooth accessory to receive the new Android Fast Pair UI, but now it has expanded to the tech giant’s other hardware, which is the Fitbit smartwatches. Besides, the feature coming to more third-party Bluetooth accessories makes it more easier for users to connect their devices. As you can see, the new Fast Pair UI is harder to miss as compared to a smaller notification that a user can easily mistake for a regular one.
It is very easy to set up your Fitbit or a Bluetooth accessory to your Android device with the new UI. For those of you who want to pair a Fitbit, the new Fast Pair UI will popup after a few seconds and all you need to do is tap the “Set up” button. It’ll quickly launch the companion Fitbit app. For other devices, you can simply tap the “Connect” button to link your device via Bluetooth. It is for sure a more simpler and easier way to pair your Bluetooth accessories to your Android device.
