A New Feature Lets Users Report Accidents on Apple Maps Using Siri

Apple Maps have greatly improved over the last few years. While they are nowhere as good as Google Maps, they have come a long way in terms of accuracy, with the company no longer recommending users to drive in the middle of the ocean.

The developers responsible for Apple Maps are constantly trying to improve things from their side, hoping someday they would rival Google. The folks at Cupertino have added a new feature that lets users report a Traffic Accident on Apple Maps using Siri.

While this may not sound like something new, it’s definitely a step forward in the right direction. Waze has had this feature for years now, but hey, no app is perfect, and certainly not Apple Maps.

Thanks to the iOS 14.5 update, users can easily make use of the feature. Users can warn other drivers about a traffic accident using the personal AI assistant or pairing up their devices with Apple CarPlay. This is quite useful on highways and to avoid traffic jams during rush hours.

To make use of the feature, all you need to do is say, “Hey Siri, there’s something on the road” Apple Maps will automatically get updated and alert all drivers nearby. The app has received several new features, including checking COVID 19 vaccination sites and providing travel information at the airport.

If you happen to live in California and Seattle, you can now get directions when cycling. Almost all bike paths, bike lanes and bike friendly routes have been added to Apple Maps. Moreover, you can also share your ETA when cycling or walking with friends.
