Xiaomi 12 could come with a triple 50MP camera and a 5x periscope, according to a leak

An all-rounder beast is in its way.

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi seems to have a lot of resources with their 108MP sensor that not only can be found on Mi 11 and Mi Mix 4 models but also on the upcoming Xiaomi 12, according to the reports online. The brand is literally making the smartphone market competition to the next level when it comes to flagship-killer hardware specifications apart from the optimized MIUI software experience, plenty of other smart devices, IoT, and more.

Talking about the Xiaomi 12 leaks, we can expect that the company has decided not to go with the ‘Mi’ term anymore. However, there is no specific information available yet so that we can’t assure it completely. It may also happen that Xiaomi will keep releasing ‘Mi’ branded devices only for the mid-budget segment in some regions most probably. The well-known Weibo blogger Digital Chat Station has brought this latest leak (rumor) as of now that the upcoming flagship Xiaomi 12 handset will include a 50 Megapixel triple rear camera setup.

Xiaomi 12 Leaked Specs

It basically indicates that there would be a 50MP primary rear camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, a 50MP telephoto lens. The telephoto lens will also work as a 5x periscope lens that offers a smoother and higher quality resolution with a capacity of 5x to 10x zoom. The device is also expected to have an LTPO AMOLED display with adaptive refresh rate, which can work anywhere from 1Hz to 120Hz, depending on the task.

Whereas it’ll be equipped with a next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC, coupled with an LPDDR5X RAM for an unleashed performance whatsoever. To be specific, the successor of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 (latest) SoC will be the Snapdragon 898 chipset. According to the leakster Ice Universe, the upcoming chipset will have the Cortex-X2 core with a maximum clock speed of up to 3.09GHz frequency. It’ll be paired with 3x Cortex-A710 and 4x Cortex-A510 (first ARMv9 design).

The Cortex-X2 core promises to boost the speed up to 16% over the Cortex-X1 core. Looks like the 3x Cortex-A710 is upgraded for more energy efficiency up to 30%. Additionally, the Snapdragon 898 processor will have the next-gen Adreno 730 GPU and an X65 5G modem (industry first 10 Gbps modem) with an upgraded ISP and NPU too.

We’ll have to wait further to get more clear information on it.
