Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 will have a single SIM slot in the US with no support for eSIM

Thanks to Samsung for optimizing the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 connectivity on 5G with support for mmWave connections, both devices will fully support the technology.

But this optimization seems to come at a cost. The compromise Samsung had to make cost users a SIM slot and no eSIM support. Moreover, MST is nowhere to be found on the latest Samsung flagships.

While this may not be a deal-breaker if you live in an area with good connectivity or don’t frequently travel, having only one nanoSIM card slot. According to the popular website PCMag, the phone does not support eSIM support as well.

Samsung also clarified its stance on the official specs suggesting that the phones will offer two SIM slots. The company said that the option is available only on specific device models. Not having Dual SIMs is okay, but the lack of eSIM is really worrisome since many manufacturers, including Google and Apple, insist on adapting eSIM.

Moreover, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 also lack support for MST, a technology that facilitated the use of Samsung Pay. Similar to two SIM support, Samsung said it is only available in certain regions. The company even went on to provide a list of regions where dual SIM and MST will be available.

Nonetheless, the lack of these features should not come as a surprise since the Galaxy S21 missed out on these features as well.
