OnePlus recently released the OnePlus 9 series that comes with Hasselblad-branded cameras onboard. But, the company’s mid-range segment of smartphones, the OnePlus Nord family is also quite popular. One such “Nord” device — the OnePlus Nord SE — was rumored a few months ago as a special edition of the company’s existing OnePlus Nord. Now, it has been revealed that OnePlus is in no mood to release this phone, meaning the OnePlus Nord SE will not launch.
As per claims of tipster Max Jambor (via Voice), the rumored OnePlus Nord SE will not release. An alleged retail box package of the handset had also surfaced online, which suggested the phone’s imminent launch. But the latest claim from a reliable tipster suggests that the device is no longer going to be released. However, this does not mean that OnePlus will not use the Nord SE moniker for future smartphones, as it is just the planned “Special Edition” of the original Nord phone. But the good news is — OnePlus Nord 2 is tipped to launch in the coming months.
OnePlus Nord 2 Launch Tipped
While the OnePlus Nord Special Edition launch is canceled, the OnePlus Nord 2 launch is still on the cards. Codenamed ‘Denniz’, the OnePlus Nord 2 is already in the works and could be released within five months. Reports claim that the upcoming Nord device will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC that is built on the 6nm process. This is the first time OnePlus is using the MediaTek chipset on its phone. Further, the phone will run Android 11 and come with 5G connectivity with support for 5G dual-SIM dual-standby.
Apart from this, the OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to sport a quad rear camera setup and an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate. There should be at least 30W fast charging support with a USB Type-C port. There’s not much known about this upcoming handset but we speculate that like the original OnePlus Nord, this handset will also be priced aggressively. As per the reports, the phone should launch before August this year.
Last week, renders of a possible OnePlus Nord N10 successor were also leaked and we learned that it will be codenamed ‘Ebba’. So we have at least two Nord phones coming our way — the OnePlus Nord 2 and the OnePlus Nord Ebba. We expect more leaks on OnePlus in the coming days as the launch approaches, stay tuned.
