Halide 2.5 update brings iPhone Macro Mode to older iPhone models

The popular camera app of iPhone and iPad called ‘Halide’ got an update today that brings a small but major feature or you can say an improvement for all iPhone models. The Halide 2.5 update now includes iPhone Macro Mode for all models named “Neural Macro”.

This macro mode can be accessed in the Halide 2.5 app through the manual focus mode. Once the macro mode is enabled on the camera app, it’ll automatically select the lens on your iPhone that suits best for the close focus within a short distance. Then users can use the Neural Macro feature to get a closer shot of the subject or an object in a real-life-like detailing than never before.

It basically applies a 2x digital zoom in Halide automatically without even losing image quality due to the presence of Neural Engine on iPhone 8 or higher iPhone models. It upscales and restores lost detail on the image that works fine in the 2x and 3x modes as well.

As you can see in the attached pictures, the image quality and macro detailing are too good. There is no doubt about it. Additionally, users can also get 4K resolution JPEG files which is a big advantage. The best part is that the 2x/3x crop with upscaling is nothing else but an image edit from the editor on the app itself. So, you can keep the original version or crop it to the new aspect ratio.

If you want to go back to the original photo again, then go to Photos > Select the image > Edit > Restore. Halide 2.5 is also free to update if in case you’re one of the Halide II existing subscribers. We should clear that all the attached images are taken from Halide 2.5 that runs on older iPhone models (older than the iPhone 13 Pro).

While Halide can go into the native macro mode on the iPhone 13 Pro model of the ultra-wide lens and also apply the Neural Macro feature to get much better macro images than the default camera app. You will also get manual control of the macro mode.
