Sony announces State of Play on February 25: Here’s how to watch, what to expect

There’s an ongoing rivalry between Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft and that is no secret. Last week, Nintendo held its Nintendo Direct presentation where it announced some much-awaited titles like Mario Golf: Super Rush, Splatoon 3, and others. Cut to now, Sony has made it official that its 2021 edition of State of Play keynote presentation will be held on Thursday i.e. February 25.

This update comes from Sid Shuman who is the Senior Director at SIE Content Communication on PlayStation Blog. According to the announcement, Sony will not announce any business-centric or PlayStation hardware-centric updates but the upcoming edition will be solely based on gaming updates. The 30-minute presentation will be all about the 10 games that Sony will announce for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 including updates and announcements on some of the 3rd party titles and indie titles that were featured on the PS5 showcase in June.

Sony’s State of Play will be held on February 25 which is a Thursday, at 2:00 PM Pacific Time / 5:00 PM Eastern Time / 10:00 GMT, and will be live on both YouTube and Twitch. Due to the time zone, the event commences at 9 AM Friday AEDT in Australia.

Talking about what to expect with the upcoming Sony State of Play event, there are 10 games waiting for their announcement including updates on some of the games that were seen at the PS5 showcase last year. According to CNET, this includes games like God of War: Ragnarok, Grand Theft Auto 5 edition for PS5, Horizon: Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 5 as well. There are other titles for PS4 awaiting their big revelation at the event. Some of the expected titles include Solar Ash, Jett: The Far Shoe, Stray, Kena: Bridge of Spirits although each has its tentative release dates that we haven’t mentioned here.

As Polygon puts it, don’t expect any hardware updates including the PlayStation VR headset for PS5. Watch out for the big event on February 25 on YouTube and Twitch.
