It looks like the Taiwanese tech giant HTC isn’t dead yet and the company is trying to get a space in this competitive smartphone industry with the help of VIVERSE. Yes! HTC’s VIVE virtual reality program has extended to the VIVERSE offering the same kind of virtual reality experience from any phone, tablet, PC, or VR headset. Now, the company has released a budget category smartphone called ‘HTC Desire 22 Pro‘ that offers a gateway to the Metaverse.
The device has been launched recently in Taiwan and it brings a couple of interesting metaverse-related features that we’ve mentioned below. It seems that users can stream up to a 300-inch large screen from the VIVE Flow headset to the HTC Desire 22 Pro device. While users can also use the VIVERSE application to create virtual VIVE avatars and manage digital assets like NFTs and Crypto using the VIVE wallet.
As a Desire 22 Pro user, you can even use the VIVE Wallet to store cryptocurrency and operate transactions quite easily. Now, talking about the hardware specifications, the device doesn’t offer any mid-ranger or flagship-level specifications which is unfortunate for HTC fans. However, as a budget device, the HTC Desire 22 Pro offers a 6.6-inches Full-HD+ (1080 x 2412 pixels) 120Hz refresh rate display with a 20:9 aspect ratio screen.
The device includes a 32MP punch-hole selfie camera on the upper left corner, a decent chin at the bottom, a vertical triple rear camera setup at the back, a soothing HTC branding, etc. It’s equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There is no other storage variant available as of now.
The handset boasts a 4,520mAh battery that supports both the wireless charging and the reverse wireless charging. It’s rated an IP67 certification for water and dust protection out of the box. Additionally, the device supports 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, other major connectivity options, etc. It packs a triple rear-camera setup of a 64MP primary sensor + a 13MP ultra-wide lens + a 5MP depth camera.
The device runs on Android 12 by default which is a good thing. In terms of the price, the HTC Desire 22 Pro is priced at NT$11,990 (approx INR 31,800) in Taiwan and comes in two color options such as Wave Gold and Starry Night Black. The handset will become available to buy starting from July 1, 2022. Interested buyers can get a Metaverse Early Bird package and a combo package with the VIVE Flow headset that costs a total of NT$23,490 (approx INR 62,300).
Well, the expected price range may vary depending on the region and market platform. But to be very specific, HTC’s pricing ratio doesn’t fit well with the buyer’s pocket. In terms of the budget device, Desire 22 Pro also has a higher price tag which must costlier than other competitive budget devices in the market. However, HTC has a good brand value, and keeping the Metaverse features in mind, it can go well.
