Recently, Google rolled out end-to-end encryption for Google Messages app on Android. It looks like Mountain View-based company is giving a lot of attention to the SMS client. It now allows users to change the font size in the Messages app.
The app will also allow users to star messages in an upcoming update, like how WhatsApp does. Coming back to the topic, you will need to use the Android pinch-to-zoom feature in order to change the font size.
Just open any thread, and you can use the feature right away. Pinching out using two fingers increases the text size in the current window but keeps the app bar the same size. Everything, including the timestamp and the bubbles, adjust accordingly. Even the entered text in the compose field is adjusted. Having said that, icons and buttons such as the profile picture, send button, and the drop-down menu do not change.
Before the update, if you wanted to modify the text size, you could do it only from the system settings app. This was not at all convenient since the entire system, the font size was changed.
We have no idea why Google has kept the feature buried deep down. It’s just now that users have noticed the feature. This was one of the most requested features for quite a while. It is available on the Google Messages app 8.3.026 beta version.
