The Realme 8 5G was unveiled just last week in India. The phone is completely different in terms of specifications from the Realme 8 that was launched last month alongside the Realme 8 Pro. It also features 5G connectivity, a feature that was unavailable on the Redmi 8.
Realme 8 5G Availability
The Realme 8 5G smartphone is currently available in two variants, with the base model coming in a 4GB + 128GB configuration. It is priced at Rs. 14,999. The other variant offers 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and is available at a price tag of Rs 16,999.
The Realme 8 5G is available in two colors, namely, Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue. It is available on the Realme website, Flipkart, and various offline retail stores throughout the country.
Realme 8 5G Specifications
It is a dual SIM smartphone that comes with Android 11 installed out of the box. The Realme 8 5G features a 6.5-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 1,080 x2,400 and offers an aspect ratio of 20:9 along with a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by Dragontrail Glass.
The handset is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC that is paired with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The phone offers the choice of 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, which is quite old compared to other smartphones.
An interesting feature is that the phone comes with DRE technology that enables the extra available storage to be used as Virtual Memory and supports SD cards up to 1TB. The DRE technology acts similar to the Pagefile system on Windows.
While it is not as fast as the RAM onboard, it is quite helpful in certain scenarios. The Realme 8 5G phone features a triple camera setup that comes with a 48MP Samsung GM1 primary sensor with a 2MP monochrome sensor and a 2MP macro lens. The front of the phone features a 16MP selfie shooter that should be enough for video calls. All of this is backed a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
Looks pretty good for the 5G buyers. The Mediatek 5G chipset and the display are the highlights of the smartphone.
