We recently learned that the iPhone 13 models will feature an under-display Touch ID, while the display notch was said to be a little smaller this time. Now, reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has confirmed that the iPhone 13 will indeed have a smaller notch but won’t go away. The reports claim that this year’s iPhone will see a significant design change in the display notch, which could make the front of iPhone 13 models look different from their predecessors.
Previously, leaker Ice Universe had said that the notch in iPhone 13 will have the same width but will be reduced in height. If this turns out to be true then the iPhone 13 notch will be less noticeable as compared to the previous generation of iPhones. This has been a mainstay throughout four generations of the iPhone, and now it seems like it’ll stay on the iPhone 13 too, but with a smaller presence.
iPhone 13 Notch, Features, and More
While the 2021 iPhone lineup, the iPhone 13, is no doubt going to have a smaller notch, it still remains unclear whether the notch will get slimmer, narrower, or perhaps both. But a reduction in the notch size would definitely make the 2021 iPhone lineup look different from the previous iPhone generation. If you don’t know, it was initially the iPhone 12 lineup that was rumored to have the first reduction of notch. But now it seems that Apple has pushed its design change ambitions to 2021, and we hopefully may see it in the coming iPhone 13.
According to various rumors, the iPhone 13 family will feature a 120Hz “Pro Motion” display and a faster A15 chip. The devices are also claimed to pack larger batteries and come with more features. While the notch will stay on the iPhone 13 models, it is expected that Apple would finally ditch it next year on iPhone 14. Some rumors have also suggested that the 2022 iPhone will feature an Android-style hole-punch display design to house the selfie camera.
