Asus has some really great gaming phones in the lineup. The company’s flagship phone, the Republic of Gamers Phone 5, was launched earlier this year.
Having said that, the phone wasn’t actually available for purchase except in the Chinese and the European market. The Asus ROG Phone 5 is one of the most powerful Android-powered smartphones in the market. It is now available in the United States and comes with a price tag of $999.99.
The company is right now offering only the base variant of the phone, with the Pro and Ultimate versions slated to be released sometime in the third quarter of the year.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor and features a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen. The phone has 16GB of RAM and 256GB of Internal Storage. The Asus ROG Phone 5 comes with two front-facing stereo speakers, virtual air triggers for gaming, and an enormous 6,000mAh battery. While the ZenFone 8 and Galaxy S21 pack the same SoC, the ROG Phone 5 is able to outperform them thanks to some software tweaks.
The phone works with networks such as AT&T, T-Mobile with the company recently making it compatible with T-Mobile’s VoLTE.
While the Asus ROG Phone 5 is a great pick for those who want to play games on a mobile device, the price might deter potential customers since the same processor can be found on $700 phones.
