Samsung has launched the TV Plus service in India for smart TV users to watch free TV content, including ad-supported select live channels and on-demand videos. Notably, all you need to have is a Samsung Smart TV (2017 model onwards) and an internet connection to access 100 percent free content with TV Plus. You don’t require an additional device such as a set-top box. Now, the Samsung TV Plus service has become available in 14 countries including the latest launch in India.
Samsung TV Plus is a service that offers free content across a variety of genres, including news, science, technology, lifestyle, gaming, sports, music, and shows without any subscription. It is available in the US, Canada, Brazil, UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Australia, Austria, Mexico, Korea, and now India — a total of 14 countries. Apart from the Samsung Smart TVs, the TV Plus service will also be available on most Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android Oreo or a higher version of the OS.
Samsung TV Plus Service Launches in India
Samsung on Wednesday announced that the content streaming service for Samsung Smart TVs, TV Plus, has been launched in India. For Galaxy phones, the service will arrive in April (the current month) with the TV Plus app, which you can download from the Samsung Galaxy Store and Google Play Store. The free streaming service offers access to 27 global and local channels and, the company says, more partners will be on-boarded soon. Currently, the service offers access to over 800+ channels globally. These include news, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, science and technology channels, and more.
Reshma Prasad Virmani, Content & Services Director at Samsung India, said, “Over the last one year, consumers have been spending more time at home. Their television sets and smartphones have become the centres of their lives, for both entertainments as well as information.” She said, “We also noticed that consumers now immensely value great media content, reason why we chose to introduce Samsung TV Plus in India.”
“Over the next few months, we expect to scale TV Plus to add more channels and content,” she added further.
