Here’s a Simple and Dumb Way to Bypass Instagram Ads on Android

Instagram is one of the most popular social media applications, and it is owned by Meta (formerly Facebook), the company which is well-known for bombarding users with targeted advertisements. And Instagram isn’t spared by the social networking giant either. The phone and video sharing service also displays ads everywhere — from stories to the user’s feed. However, there seems to be a workaround to bypass all Instagram ads on Android — that too without doing any modification to your phone. Here’s how to block or bypass Instagram ads on Android without any app.

A Twitter user named linuxct has discovered and shared a simple and dumb way to bypass Instagram ads on Android. All you need to have is the official Instagram app on your Android smartphone. Upon testing on our device, we found that, for whatever reasons, this method really works. This fun way to block Instagram ads uses Instagram’s built-in web browser that apparently blocks all ads, including Instagram’s own ads. Here’s how to do it:

As aforementioned, this method utilizes Instagram’s own web browser, so you need to open Instagram’s website in this built-in browser. To do this, all you need to do is open any story with a link to http://instagram.com. But where do you find a Story with the http://instagram.com link? Here’s how you can do it by yourself:

Create a story on your Instagram account and add a link to http://instagram.com as you would do normally. Note that this story will be visible to all your followers, so if you don’t want it to happen, follow these steps:

  1. First, open the Instagram app on your Android and go to your profile by tapping the profile icon on the bottom-right corner of your phone screen.
  2. Next, tap on the hamburger menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
  3. Now select “Close friends” and add one of your followers as your close friend. This can be your alternate Instagram account.
  4. That’s it. Now create a story and insert a link to https://instagram.com and share it with your close friends only.

Now, to browse Instagram without ads, you can simply open your story and tap on the instagram.com link. This is how you can block/bypass Instagram ads on Android in a fun way — without installing any third-party app. You can also watch the video by linuxct below:
