Cupertino giant Apple is reportedly working on two new smart-home products — one, a combination of an “Apple TV set-top box with a HomePod speaker” and second, a “high-end” speaker.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the tech giant is developing a new product in the smart-home space — a combination of Apple TV and smart speaker with a screen. The company is blending an Apple TV set-top box with a HomePod speaker. This will include both the Siri voice assistant and a video camera for conferencing. The hybrid product of these two devices will include the typical functions of an Apple TV box, like video-watching and gaming, and the capabilities of a smart speaker.
Apple is Also Developing a High-end Speaker
Alongside the Apple TV and HomepPod hybrid, Apple is also working on a separate device — a “high-end speaker. The report claims that the upcoming speaker from Apple will feature a touch screen, making the product look like a combination of iPad and HomePod speaker along with a camera. Both the devices are said to be in the early stages of development.
These two new products could be a new opening for Apple in the smart-home space, as the company has never had more than 10% of the smart speaker market. Even in the TV streaming device market, the tech giant held only 2% of the market share in 2020, according to Strategy Analytics.
As of now, there is no official word on the upcoming two smart-home products. But we expect to hear more about them in the coming days.
