Earlier this week, we reported that Roku is adding a dedicated Apple TV+ button to the Voice Remote Pro following a deal with Apple. However, it looks like it may take a while for the TV+ button to actually appear on Roku’s new remote control due to a last-minute deal between the companies. According to Zatz Not Funny!, the early buyers of the Roku Voice Remote Pro won’t see the Apple TV+ button on the remote. This came after writer Adam Miarka of Zatz Not Funny! got his new Voice Remote Pro, but the new TV+ button was missing and had a one for Sling, even after the announcement.
As per the recent images shared by Roku this week, the company’s new Voice Remote Pro has four dedicated buttons for popular streaming services. These include Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and the newly-announced Apple TV+ button. However, when the remote was actually received by the user, there was no Apple TV Plus button, but instead has one for Sling. This remote is apparently the same version that Roku had sent to a limited amount of customers back in February.
Apple TV+ Button May Take a While to Get Featured on Voice Remote Pro
Currently, Roku is selling the Voice Remote Pro with Sling instead of the Apple TV+. The new $30 remote on the company’s official website shows multiple images with the first image showing the shortcut buttons blank. But the subsequent images show four shortcut buttons labelled Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and Sling. Since the stock is still available, it can be speculated that the company could be selling through the version with the Sling shortcut button first. But at the same time, it must be working on adding the Apple TV+ shortcut on the upcoming versions of the device.
According to the reports, Roku is still transitioning the Voice Remote Pro to the Apple TV+ button. This means that the purported deal happened very recently, hence taking time to implement on the devices. Further, the Amazon listing of the remote also shows an Apple TV+ button, but it may take a while to get it featured on your device.
We recommend you wait for at least a month or so before picking up the Roku Voice Remote Pro. It’s expected to take about 1-2 months for the new Voice Remote Pro to feature an Apple TV+ shortcut.
