The Galaxy M42 5G phone has already been teased by the company on Amazon, revealing the chipset and design of the handset. Rumors were that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M42 5G will be a rebranded version of the Galaxy A42 5G. But the new Google Play Supported Device list confirms that this is indeed true, as both the devices have the same code “a42xq“.

The Galaxy M42 5G has been spotted on Google Play Console with the device code “a42xq,” which is interestingly the same as that of the Galaxy A42 5G that has launched globally. The listing actually shows the specifications of the Galaxy A42 5G, but since both the devices appear to be the same, the specifications should also be similar. According to the listing, the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G features the Snapdragon 750G SoC and 6GB RAM. The phone sports an HD+ display, suggesting the Galaxy M42 5G in India will also offer an HD+ display. As obvious, the phone will run One UI based on Android 11.
In terms of optics, the Samsung Galaxy A42 features a quad rear camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor. It also comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. Similar specifications are expected on the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G in India, and the details will be confirmed only tomorrow during the actual launch of the phone.
