Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Gets New Features With One UI 3.1 Update

In the blog post, Samsung has revealed the four new software tweaks for its foldable phone. One of them is a new tweak to video calling apps. This new change allows Galaxy Fold 2 users to put their phone into flex mode and have their phone’s top half of the display only show the person whom they’re talking to in a video call.

Similarly, there come more enhancements to the flex mode, including the position of the controls, adding delete and share buttons to the preview area, etc. Apart from this, the One UI 3.1 for Z Fold 2 has also added a new “palm touch” gesture. This feature allows users to turn off the cover screen or the main internal display by just touching it with their palm or a double-tap. But you need to manually enable this from the device settings. Further, there come more tweaks to the camera and other existing features.

Multitask Like a Pro

This is the biggest new feature that the One UI 3.1 adds to the Samsung foldable. Called “Enhanced Multi-Active Window,” the feature expands Samsung’s multitasking and improves how users can switch between apps. This allows the Galaxy Z Fold 2 to keep a collection of two or three apps in the multitasking overview screen as one app instead of keeping them individually as three. This improves the user’s multitasking experience and keeps the layout in place too. In terms of functionality, it looks similar to that on iOS when you use the split-screen view on iPad.

Additionally, the One UI 3.1 update has also added a multi-active window shortcut to the Quick Panel. The update will start rolling out to the foldable device soon. When available, you should receive an update notification or you can manually check for it in the About phone section in device settings.
