The Nintendo Switch is more than 4 years old. Having said that, it looks like the console is nowhere to go. The latest game to make its way on the Switch is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.
In the last few weeks, numerous AAA titles have found their way to the handheld console. Whatever the result might be, one thing is certain. Nintendo has no plans to ditch the Switch in the coming months. Games such as Doom Eternal and Apex Legends were recently ported over to the Switch.
The latest video game to join the Switch gang is the remake of Tony Hawk’s Skater Pro 1+2. Despite the weird name, the game is really welcome addition to Switch. It is a game where FPS drops can ruin the overall experience.
Having said that, the THPS (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2) is an overall solid port. While it does not offer the same level of graphics compared to its PS counterpart, the game still looks okay and performs quite well, considering Switch’s hardware.
If you are a fan of the series, the first thing you might notice right off the bat are the mediocre graphics compared to the latest version of the game. The developers had to dial down the graphics on the game to keep things smooth, giving it a flat and simple look, especially in terms of textures, which look blurry at times.
While it does not look bad, it doesn’t look any good either. But, honestly, the developers at Vicarious Visions made the right choice. THPS is a game that needs consistent FPS. One frame drops, and it’s ruined.
Overall, it’s a solid Switch port if the graphics don’t affect you much. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 will be available for the Nintendo Switch on June 25, so all you Nintendo fans make sure to grab a copy when it comes out.
