Users can now star messages and pin conversations on Google Messages

In a recent teardown of the Google Messages APK, users found out that the tech giant was working on new features.

In the Google Messages version 8.1.05, the ability to pin conversations and star select messages similar to that of WhatsApp was spotted. Having said that, it looks like they are still in the early stages and are pretty basic as of now.

If you choose to star certain messages, you can find them using the app’s in-built search feature. All starred messages will have a star badge on them, enabling users to spot them easily.

Some members of XDA developers spotted the features. It is still unclear if these features will make it to the app’s final version since they were spotted in a teardown.

Messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram save starred messages in a separate folder altogether. Some reports also suggest that Google Messages plan to bring conversation filters and even a redesigned emoji menu.

The Cupertino-based company also brought in end-to-end encryption. If you want to use encryption, both receiver and sender need to be on the latest version of the beta. Moreover, the Wi-Fi feature should also be enabled in the Messages app.

Now that the unlimited storage on the Google Photos is coming to an end, Google is rolling out a feature that will enable users to remove all their blurry and unwanted photos.

We wish Google releases theses features soon, since it will put them in line with other messaging platforms.
