OnePlus may launch Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC smartphone, reportedly

It looks like the OPPO-owned smartphone brand OnePlus is planning to release another flagship-killer smartphone after the launch of the OnePlus 10T a month ago (August 2022). Well, this time it might be the OnePlus 11 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC expectedly. If we take a close look at the OnePlus 10T model, it has been released with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset out of the box.

The 10T model also includes 150W fast charging technology, a Fluid AMOLED 120Hz HDR10+ display, Android 12 on top of OxygenOS 12.1, up to 16GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, triple rear cameras, etc. Under display fingerprint sensor, 4800mAh battery, and more connectivity as well as sensor options available on this device.

Now, multiple leaks and reports are coming out that the company is working on its next-gen upcoming smartphone which might debut with one of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors in the smartphone market. It’s also expected that OnePlus may launch the 11 Pro model by the end of this year. But there is no official announcement or teaser released yet.

This particular info has been mentioned by Digital Chat Station on Weibo which has been covered by Android Authority blog recently. As per the Digital Chat Station tipster, the chances are quite valid that OnePlus may not be going to wait for Q1 2023 to reveal their next-gen flagship-killer smartphone. So, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550) SoC running device launch is imminent.

It’s also worth mentioning that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is all set to be introduced at its next Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in November 2022. So, OnePlus have the full option to go big this time. As Apple has already announced its new iPhone 14 series models with some major changes, other Chinese competitive OEMs shouldn’t be far behind.

We’ll have to wait more regarding this info in the upcoming few weeks or so. Once more details or leaks come out, we may get to know device specifications, overall design, and key features too.
