FirstGroup is to take over the working of the West Coast mainline prepare route, connecting London Euston to Glasgow Central, from December.

Together with Italian agency Trenitalia, FirstGroup mentioned the route would pave the way in which for an period of excessive pace rail.

First Trenitalia replaces Virgin Trains, which was barred from bidding to maintain the route.
